Design Process

I. Kick-Off

The first step is a one-and-a-half-hour consult session. During this session, we walk through your home or business, discuss your aesthetic and functional needs, and identify the “must-haves” on your interior design or construction project wishlist. We also determine project scope and timing. A design proposal is sent after this meeting.

The second step is a more-detailed onsite meeting. We engage in a visioning session and identify preferred interior design styles, requirements for each room, how you live and work in your home, etc. We also photograph the residence and take precise measurements of each room.

II. Design Development

This is when the real fun begins. Now that we have a deeper understanding of your tastes, we develop comprehensive design directions. These include floor plans, elevations, furniture selections, material samples, paint color selection, and sketches. Our goal is to give you enough information to understand what the space will look like and confidently make a decision about how to proceed. We work with you to narrow down the final selections, pricing, and then begin implementing the design.

III. Product Acquisition

After your final approval of the design, it is time to start the purchasing of materials. During this phase, necessary products and merchandise will be purchased by Joanne Modica Interior Design, yourself, and any contractors that may be involved with your project. We will secure any workrooms necessary and communicate with them on timing to receive the product and complete the work.

IV. Implementation

Once the products and materials are received, and the workrooms or specialists are onboard, implementation/construction can begin. The scope may be as simple as arranging furniture and hanging artwork, or more complex like building a new kitchen. It all depends on what type of project you have.

Depending on size and scope, the implementation may be completed by Joanne Modica Interior Design, yourself, the contractor(s), or any combination of the three. We always review the work of the contractors, painters, installers, and arrange delivery of furniture and other merchandise during the implementation phase to help things move along smoothly. During this phase, it is critical to keep an open line of communication and to inspect the construction as it is progressing.

V. Installation/Final Steps

Once the dust has settled, the paint has dried, and the last piece of furniture is in place, we review the project to make sure that you are happy with the final result. Reminder, it is essential for you to keep a Punch List to review before the installation.

Our goal is to make sure that we have met or exceeded your expectations and that you are happy with your new home’s look and feel. Attention to final details ensures that it is accomplished. We take pictures of the space either on the last day of the project or later time as convenient to you.
